Those tiny batteries uesed in hearing aisd, calculators, cameras and watches can pose a danger to delicate ear and nasal tissues and should be kept out of children, according to Dr.Joseph M. capo and Frank E. Lucente of the New York Eye and Ear Infiemary.
The mini-batteries are considerably more dangerous that most objcets young children put into their noses or ears, such as small plastic toys or rubber erasers. Batteries rapidly destroy the tissues because moisture in the nose or ear canal may erode the metal casing. This allows cautic materials to leak or generates an electrical current through body tissues.
