Co-op is known to benefit educational institutions, the focus of this chapter, through enhancing student recruitment messaging and boosting enrolments, as evidenced by the high focus and extensive operations of many higher education entities, both public and private. Co-op helps build a brand that is attractive to students and parents, and acts as one of a suite of external relations tools employed by universities as part of their community engagement profile. In return, through knowledge exchange, the outside world gets to have input into the university arena, particularly in curriculum and research development.
