The method offered in this manual fails to account for the nitrogen in azides, azinejt, azo, hydrazones, nitrate, nitrite, nitrile, nitro, nitroso, oximes and semicarbazones. If ammonia nitrogen is not removed as described in the initial phase (4b below) of the organic nitrogen procedure, the term “total kjcldahl nitrogen” is applied to the result. Should the total kjeldahl nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen be determined individually, the “organic nitrogen”can then be obtained by difference.
