RESULTS
In the baseline survey, the prevalence of T2DM was found to be 5.8% After three years, a follow-up survey was conducted on the original non-diabetic cohort, 85% (979/1152) of whom were re-examined. Respondents and non-respondents differed in terms of age, gender, physical activity, family history of T2DM, smoking and alcohol consumption, with non-respondents being more likely to be male, Physically inactive. Smokers and alcohol users and less likely to have a famity history of T2DM (P<0.05)(Table 1). Among the responders, differences were found across the sexes, with a higher proportion of men having attended school, being employed, physically inactive and overweight. None of the participating women reponed smoking or consuming alcohol.
