Structured questionnaires including questions about family, general health behaviour, eating habits and opinions about healthy eating were sent by post to the homes of the participants. In the questionnaire, the adolescents were asked to record the frequency of their consumption of selected foods and drinks during the past 7 days (fivecategory scale, ranging from never to more than once aday). The questionnaire also included questions about school lunch, snacks eaten at school and meals taken at home. Altogether, 726 adolescents (400 girls and 326 boys)returned their questionnaire after one reminder.
