Characteristics of the population who completed the
survey in this period are detailed in Table 1. Of the subjects,
83 (64%) of 129 were in a nursing profession and 33 (26%)
of 129 were physicians, whereas 13 (10%) of 129
represented other hospital-based healthcare professionals.
The study population included 55 (43%) of 129 critical care
practitioners and 39 (30%) of 129 emergency department
providers. “Poor” to “fair” self-reported knowledge of TTM
was noted by 95 (73%) of 129 study subjects before the
training program. While some participants self-selected to
attend the program, others were sent as part of hospital
delegations to develop TTM protocols for their institutions
(data not shown).
