In order to improve the quality of life for the elderly
or people with chronic disease, the paper proposes a smart cellbased
sensor network for home monitoring. The cell is considered
to be a small sensor network which is situated into the patient’s
house. It is composed of mobile and fixed sensors, disposed on five
sensor groups. Each group is actually a network of dedicated
sensors: ambient sensor network, body sensor network,
emergency sensor network, visual sensor network and sensor
network dedicated to on request - physiological parameters
monitoring. Sensor networks cooperate with each other within the
cell to increase the efficiency of monitoring, to decrease energy
consumption and radiation level. Adaptive rates of acquisition
and communication are used. Some experimental results are
presented in the last section.
