High methane oxidation activity was successfully realized by
PdO/CeO2–ZrO2–NiO/-Al2O3 catalysts. The introduction of NiO
into the cubic fluorite CeO2–ZrO2 lattice as a promoter was
found to effectively improve the oxygen release and storage
abilities of the PdO/CeO2–ZrO2–NiO/-Al2O3 catalysts, and the
complete combustion of methane was achieved. The PdO and
the CeO2–ZrO2–NiO contents were optimized, and the 11.3 mass%
PdO/20 mass% Ce0.64Zr0.16Ni0.2O1.9/-Al2O3 catalyst was found to
exhibitthe best catalytic performance for methane oxidation; 100%
methane conversion was achieved at a temperature of 300 ◦C.
