RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Month wise rate of photosynthesis of the leaves of the
mango plants revealed that the control plants registered the
natural seasonal fluctuation in the rate photosynthesis of
mango plants that ranged between 3.996 and 8.436
µmol/m2
/s with gradual increase from the month of July to
November and then gradual decline with the rate in the
month of February being the lowest (Table 1). Similar
pattern of fluctuation of the rate of photosynthesis was
recorded in the treated plants also, i e gradual increase up to
November and gradual decline afterward. But the results
also showed that the rate of photosynthesis in the September
treated plants during the month of December and January;
and September, October and November treated plants during
the month of February was significantly higher than the
corresponding values of the untreated plants. Such results
clearly indicated the promoting effect of paclobutrazol on
the rate of photosynthesis. Among the treated plants, the rate
of photosynthesis was consistently highest (Fig 2) in case of
September treated ones.
