Baby pakchoi(Brassica chinensis var. chinensis) is belong to Brassicaceae Family(Cruciferae or – Mustards family). The origins in China, and distributed to southern and central China and Taiwan(Geoffrey R. Dixon., 2007).Baby pakchoi is a biennial plant, but cultivated as an annual plant. The harvesting period is 45-55 days after seed germination. It can be planted the whole year. Moreover, it contains a high amount of vitamin A, vitamin C,calcium and phosphorus. The leaf is eaten fresh, boiled, fried orfermented(Highland research and development institute,2012).
Chitosan is a natural biopolymer from chitin. The main structural component of chitosan are squid pens, cell walls of some fungi and shrimp and crab shells(Suchada, B.,Chaweewan, B.,and Raweewon, S., 2008). It acts as plant growth regulator which increase the growth roots, shoots and yieldsand common use in agricultural field.
Chitosan was first discovered by Rouget (1895)
(Steve L. Taylor. 2005).
Therefore, these research aimed to study the effect of chitosan liquid fertilizer on growth and yield of Baby pakchoi varieties.
