Leaching WPBs using hydrochloric acid was conducted to
separate aluminum and plastic for recycling. The effects of temperature,
HCl concentration, reaction time, liquid/solid ratio and
agitation on separation of aluminum and plastic were investigated.
It is demonstrated that the recovery of Al increases with an increase
of the factors. Kinetic mechanism of leaching process was examined;
the process is controlled by chemical reaction control model,
and the activation energy of leaching Al from WPBs is
87.24 kJ mol1.
