The results of the present study showed that feeding goats a diet
supplemented with 3% canola oil leads to some improvement in
meat fatty acid profile and oxidative stability compared to feeding a
diet supplemented with 3% palm oil. There were minimal effects of
feeding canola oil as opposed to palm oil on carcass characteristics.
Overall the use of 3% canola oil in the goat diet as an energy source
had beneficial effects and such supplementation could improve goat
meat quality making it a healthier product by significantly increasing
the muscle omega-3 fatty acid concentration while reducing the lipid
oxidative substances in meat.
