The amount of hexose and pentose sugars liberated from
the plant material at the different power inputs and a constant
sulphuric acid concentration of 50 g kg1 in water is shown in
Fig. 3. The results in Fig. 3 do not include the residual hexose
sugars that were initially present in the bagasse. The experimental
error associated with this set of experiments was
determined to be 4% at a 95% confidence level.
