Interesting trends from Fig. 1(a) shows a decreasing number
of days claimed in Ontario for WRMSDs over 200–2,009, while
Fig. 1(c) shows an increase in LTC when compared as a percentage
of annual claims. The reduction in Fig. 1(a) may be attributed either
to (1) an increasing awareness on workplace safety and ergonomics
through education (workshops and training sessions) of managers
and workers or (2) faster and more efficient return-to-work (RTW)
initiatives including work modification that reduces the number of
days claimed because of injury (Baril et al. 2003).
