Acknowledgments
This study could not have been done without the cooperation of 68 Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association members across Ontario
who each gave the project 6 250 ml bottles of syrup. Nick Bereznick
played a major role in planning the project and he and Bob Gray managed the social marketing required to convince producers to help
meet the targets for each of the 11 districts. Paul Bailey and Todd
Leuty from Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food & Rural Affairs provided
helpful advice and their support of the project with the producers is
appreciated. We thank Romain Mathevet for diligent technical assis-
tance and Don Belisle (Paracel Laboratories) for the identifications
based on morphology. Dr. Keith Seifert and Dr. Cobus Visagie for advice on the taxonomy the Penicillium subgenus Penicillium section Chrysogena. This work was supported by a Natural Science & Engineering Research Council Engage grant (462083-13) and OMSPA.
