Fungus and bacteria in combination were also used by some researchers to increase the degradation rate. The fungal-treated wastewater was again treated with the bacteria for the biodegradation process (Chupal et al., 2005) used Paecilomyces sp. and Pseudomona syringae and reported significant reduction in color (88.5%), lignin (79.5%), COD (87.2%) and phenol (87.7%) in two steps.
