With a Bachelor of Engineering, MBA in Finance and PhD in Organisation Development, Pinyo Rattanaphan is continually looking at ways to expand his knowledge through education and ways to better himself and grow and develop his meaning and purpose. Now a full time lecturer at Khon Kaen University (Thailand), Pinyo teaches and provides consulting in appreciative inquiry and has a determination to spread his knowledge to the people of Thailand.
Pinyo decided to study the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing after realising the foundation of appreciative inquiry lay in the knowledge and understanding of positive psychology. He was intrigued by the science and evidence base behind this knowledge and knew it would be beneficial to his career progression.
He enrolled in the intensive course in London in July 2014 and has recently been awarded his Diploma.
After completing the initial assessment as part of the Diploma, including the Realise2 strengths profile, Pinyo was able to understand where his strengths and weaknesses lay, and how he could use the tools he had learnt to enhance and further develop his leadership potential. The positive leadership assessment gave Pinyo the knowledge and confidence to make changes within himself in order to better engage his community to understand his vision and mission. Pinyo received positive feedback from members of his community who could instantly see and feel a shift in his thinking and behaviour.
“What I learnt from the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing was beyond my expectations. I have been able to take the neuroscience and tools to grow and experiment in my personal life, my career and within my community.”
Personally, Pinyo uses the knowledge behind what he has learnt to help coach his wife in her new career direction, and is using the tools of positive coaching and positive assessment to unlock strengths and engage in positive emotion. He has found the tools to be so interchangeable and practical that he has been able to develop teaching and consulting projects which enable him to share his understanding of the science of positive psychology and wellbeing with others.
Pinyo has recently introduced positive coaching to the Thai Coach Association and has reports from members who have used this methodology to have found purpose. “It is so rewarding to have members of the Thai Coach Association come to me and explain how positive coaching has helped them integrate their new found meaning into their lives and their careers.”
Pinyo has found great success following his completion of the Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing, and is excited by how engaged and adaptive his community are in embracing this new knowledge and in taking the time to understand its neuroscience. Pinyo looks forward to the future and is enthusiastic in how he can help Thai people become accessible to positive psychology and appreciative inquiry.
