Students were asked questions such as, “How does the equivalent button help
you?” One student replied, “When you click on the arrow button, you look at the black
lines and the blue lines, and the lines have to be on top of each other (line up) and match. That's how you know they are equivalent. Then you can count the pieces.” Another student was asked, “What patterns do you notice when you change the fraction names?” The student replied, “You get more pieces, but it’s still the same amount. Each piece gets thinner.”
