Heterostructured BiVO4/TiO2 composites were fabricated using a hydrothermal method, resulting in enhanced photocatalytic activity for RhB degradation under visible light irradiation .The degradation rate constant of 74.4% BiVO4/TiO2 was 10.5 and 4 times higher than that of TiO2 and BiVO4, respectively .The enhanced photocatalytic activity is attributed to the similar valence band energy of BiVO4 and TiO2, which endows BiVO4/TiO2 with strong oxidizability .The photocatalytic performance is also improved by the enhanced visible-light absorption ability and improved separation efficiency of photogenerated charge carriers .The method used to fabricate the heterostructures can be applied to develop high-performance heterostructures for various applications in photocatalysis, photovoltaics, and sensing
