Table 2 shows the prevalence of drug use by age. Collegestudents over 34 years of age were more likely to have triedat least one illicit drug more than students in other otherage range (p<0.001). This finding was especially true forcocaine powder, tranquilizers, opiates and amphetamines(p < 0.05). The use of tranquilizers, opiate analgesics andamphetamines was more prevalent among this age group inthe last 12 months and in the last 30 days. In contrast, theuse of marijuana, inhalants and hallucinogens in the last 12months was more frequent among students aged 18 to 24years (p<0.05). This finding was also true for marijuana,inhalants and alcohol in the last 30 days (p < 0.01).
