Taking into account only readily biodegradable fractions
(Fig. 1a), the residues classified as fruit (F) and vegetables (V) when
taken together, invariably represented more than 50% of the
organic waste, on wet weight basis. In particular the sum of these
two fractions ranged from the lowest value of 54.8% recorded in
February to the highest value of 76.4% recorded in July, with a
higher percentage of V being observed at all times compared to F.
