As previously stated, this research will be a voice from Thai residents to TAT, which markets Thai tourism both domestically and internationally, and to the Thai government, and will serve as a link between the centralized Thai government and local residents. Residents' perception on cultural, eco nomic, and environmental impacts of tourism in their community need to policy development and implementation be incorporated into tourism stages via transparent and effective communication channels. The Thai government and TAT need to consider the heterogeneity of tourism destina- tions in order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency in their policy implementation. It is practically impossible to achieve successful and sus tainable tourism management without securing the support of the local residents who are a community's key stakeholders in tourism. Hence, the cooperation between the policy maker, TAT, and local residents is a main factor in the success of Thai tourism.
