No wait state.
When an 8-or16-bit ISA memory expansion board requires zero wait states rather than the number that would normally be supplied by the default ready timer on the system board, it should assert NOWS# when its address decoder recognizes an address and the appropriate command line ().
This causes the default ready timer to assert READY# immediately.
This signals to the microprocessor that the device is ready to end the bus cycle.
NOWS# can be used to shorten an access to an 8-bit card from the default of four wait states down to one wait state, or an access to a 16-bit memory card from one to zero wait states.
Accesses to 16-bit I/O cards may not be shortened from the default of one wait state, but may be lengthened using the CHRDY signal.
