Passivation treatments used on some stainless
steels are not usually required for nickel alloys.
Slag, undercut, and other potential crevices
should be removed, to avoid crevice corrosion.
Grinding and polishing are sometimes used
where low process contamination is needed, as
in pharmaceutical or fine chemical production,
but must welds are placed in service in the aswelded
condition. Heat tint oxidation is not as
harmful to nickel alloys as it is to stainless steels
but can be removed by grinding or pickling
