METHODOLOGIES
Quality Function Deployment (QFD)
A typical QFD system consists of four phases, product planning, part deployment, process planning and production planning, and each phase contains a matrix called house of quality (HOQ) [1], [5], [11], [12]. In the product planning phase, product planning matrix contains information about what customers want, how technically customer requirements can be achieved, and the relationships between each of these aspects [3], [6], [8].
The systematic procedure for the first HOQ contains seven steps.
1. Obtainingcustomerattributes(CAs).
2. Developingengineeringcharacteristics(ECs).
3. Buildingrelationshipbetweencustomerattributes(CAs)andengineeringcharacteristics(ECs). 4. CompletingcompetitivesurveyandcalculatingrelativeimportanceofCAs.
5. Performingthecompetitivetechnicalbenchmarking.
6. DeterminingtherelationshipsamongECs.
7. CalculatingtheimportanceofECsandadditionalgoals.
