A comparisonwas carried out on an experimental set consisting
of a roof top with a soil depth of 0.10 m, a roof top with a soil depth
of 0.10 m with grass, and with an exposed roof top. Heat transfer
calculations were made on the experimental model and the results are shown in Fig. 6. By this comparison, it is clear that the grass has
a great impact on heat transfer through the roof. Fig. 6 shows that
grass on the roof top can reduce heat transfer by 208 W/m2 (58%) as
compared to the roof with a soil depth of 0.10 m and by 1117 W/m2
(79%) as compared to the exposed roof.
