The Taiwan Power Company (Taipower, 台電) projected a 2- to 3-percent rate cut starting Oct. 1 to reflect falling global oil prices.
The state-run utility estimated that the cost of electricity will decline between 2 to 3 percent from this year's pre-summer rate of NT$2.8852 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
Under the new rate, Taipower customers who use around 400 kilowatt-hours per month can expect to save around NT$24.
