We all have played video games once in our life, maybe, with a friend, a cousin or even alone. And in many cases that video game is in English, it also give instructions to complete the game. So to finish it, first of all, you need to understand what the game is saying. And that’s where my theory comes from.
I remember, when I was like 5 years old, I didn’t know a lot of English, neither my cousin. And we were playing a video game in English, but in certain mission we didn’t understand the instruction to finish it. Therefore we stayed all day trying to finish that mission, until our Aunt, who lives in Canada, helps us with the instructions and we can continue with the game. That memory helped me to learn what the video game was about, and to remember that word, even thought I didn’t know it at that time.
Then, with that in mind, I came with the idea that video games are a really good way to learn English, without even notice it and having a good time while doing it. Also, I have a lot of friends who have told me the same thing about how some video games have help them a lot to learn English grammar and even more if the game is online, because they can speak and interact with real people who speak American English.
That is mostly the origin of my construct. Now let’s see about what the construct is about. First it will be for Mexican High School students, who are learning English. With my construct, they could learn English in a more dynamic and fun way. Because they could use video games as a learning tool.
