To test for the effect of professionalism on job satisfaction, intentions to quit and
professional identification, we conducted separate sets of hierarchical regression
analyses for each dependent variable. In the first step, we entered all the controls and
professional socialization variables. In the second step, we entered the term of
professionalism. A significant increase in R-squared would show that professionalism
was a significant predictor of the job attitude variable, above and beyond the effects of
the controls and socialization variables
