The theme based curricula made it difficult for principals, particularly those in private schools, to acknowledge the amount of time allotted to science education. Some admitted that students may not be receiving any science education for weeks, if the theme was not science related. However, as long as all science standards are being met, this is not necessarily a problem. Therefore, the issue highlighted by the data is that subject integration, if espoused as a goal of the school, must be well planned and executed with learning objectives in mind. Only a few teachers said they integrate science with another subject, usually English (vocabulary) and sometimes technology. Again, we come to the issue of professional development as eight principals cite subject integration as a goal.
