So far, the research carried out at University of Aveiro on the valorization of Eucalyptus spp. comprised the following route: char-acterization of the different morphological parts of the biomass[31,32], being thus possible to identify Eucalyptus bark as an impor-tant source of TTAs; assessment of the technical viability of SFEto obtain TTAs from bark [34]; disclosure of the importance ofthe equilibrium and kinetics factors that influence this SC-CO2extraction [35]; optimization of SFE operating conditions (pressure,temperature, flow rate, cosolvent content) [13,36]; and measure-ment and modeling of supercritical extraction curves to identifythe dominant mass transfer mechanisms [13] and thus establishan appropriate scale-up criterion.
