Colon extends superiorly form the cecum to the liver, where it turns to the left, forming the right colic flexure (Hepatic flexure) The transverse colon extends form the right colic flexure to the
spleen, where it turns inferiorly, forming the left colic flexure (splenic flexure) The descending colon extends form the left colic flexure to the pelvis, where it becomes the sigmoid colon. The sigmoid colon forms an S-shaped tube that extends medially and then inferiorly into the pelvic cavity and ends at the rectum.
