The winter of 2012–13 in the US was recorded to be both warmer and wetter than average, according
to the latest estimates by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Winter was
warmer than average for every state east of the Rockies. Several states along the East Coast,
including Florida, Delaware, and Vermont recorded one of their 10 warmest winters during the period.
Indeed the past winter in the US, spanning the three months of December–February of 2011–12
were also considered to be warmer than average. According to the NOAA data released in March
2012, the winter of 2011–12 was indeed the fourth warmest winter ever recorded in the country.
