Milgram (1974) conducted a total of eighteen experiments, in which he varied different
parameters to investigate factors influencing obedience. In all but one experiment the
participants were 20-50-year-old males, not attending university, from a range of occupations
and socioeconomic levels. In one study in which women were the participants, exactly
