Hydroxyl radical (OH•) scavenging was obtained by the Fenton reaction (Smirnoff and Cumbes, 1989), and was detected by their ability to hydroxylate salicylate containing 1 mL of different concentrations of samples, 1.0 mL FeSO4 (6 mmol/L), 1.0 mL H2O2 (6 mmol/L), and 1.0 mL sodium salicylate (6 mmol/L). TBHQ was used as the positive control. After incubation for 30 min at 37 ◦C, the absorbance of the mixture was measured at 510 nm. The RSA was calculated using the same , Where Ai was the absorbance of the sample or TBHQ, A0 was the absorbance of the control, and Aj was the absorbance of the reagent blank without H2O2. IC50 values were also calculated from the graph plotting inhibition percentage against sample concentration.
