4.5 Ensure compliance with the WHS legislative framework so that, as a minimum, WHS legal requirements are achieved
Compliance with WHS legislation is essential not only to protect employees and others in the workplace, but to protect employers and managers from criminal prosecutions and penalties. Ultimately, failure to take workplace safety seriously can result in large financial burdens, poor morale and loss of reputation and goodwill.
Simply having workplace WHS policies and procedures, without more, is insufficient to discharge employer WHS obligations and create a safe environment.
