4.4. Conclusions regarding the appropriateness of the OGP and FOM
predictive models
The following two figures (Figs. 5, 6) present the predicted vs. actual
results (lean meat percentage) of the linear regression formula of the
OGP and FOM models. In both figures the plots resemble a 45 degree
line, demonstrating strong goodness of fit. The residuals are generally
evenly distributed around the 45 degree line, without following a
clear pattern through different values of the lean meat percentage. If
changes occur in the pig population that would significantly improve
the leanmeat percentage to be higher than 63%, a revision of the prediction
model is recommended since these models show some underestimation
for extremely high lean meat percentages.
The results of the above analysis indicate that the regression models
developed in Romania for measuring carcass quality using the OGP and
FOM optical probes were appropriate.
