• Set and maintain par levels on all beverages.
• Preparing daily stock orders/requisitions.
• Performing pre-opening and closing set ups.
• Maintain equipment par level. Purchase equipment when required, with management authorization.
• Fill out all stock transfers.
• Fill out all spillage & spoilage reports.
• Responsible for cleaning the bar every day.
• Control all glassware, maintaining breakage reports, and liaise with the Stewarding Department to order more stock.
• Ensure a thorough knowledge of the workings of your Department.
• To understand and act on the duties pertaining to the opening of the bar.
• To understand the correct method of taking an order and dispensing it the correct way.
• Promoting cocktails and special drinks.
• Ensure all food and beverage items served to guests are of the highest standard, accurate to the order taken, and presentation is as per resort standards.
• Have a thorough understanding of the hotel services and its operations.
• Personal appearance is an important requirement. Grooming for Food & Beverage attendants should be fastidious. The goal is to present a healthy, professional and natural appearance in both uniform and personal appearance.
• Be punctual, efficient and above all, courteous. Assume at all times a pleasing and helpful attitude towards each guest. Never speak in a loud voice to other associates.
• Become totally familiar with the methods a customer can close their account. Be able to operate the Point of Sale system.
• Understand and follow the procedures for correct service of beverages and be knowledgeable of cocktails.
• Ensure that you are aware and knowledgeable of all items on the menu, including basic ingredients, method and time of preparation.
• Be aware of your work schedule and give adequate notice whenever serious circumstances prevent you from adhering to your schedule.
• Be aware of any Hotel promotions / programs.
• Never indicate to a guest by word or implication that a tip is expected or that you are dissatisfied with the amount of the tip.
• Endeavour to remember regular guests, and where possible, address by name to encourage repeated business. Be careful never to overstep the thin line between friendliness and familiarity.
• Prepare bills accurately.
• To implement correct portion control of beverage.
• To have a practical working knowledge of all equipment in the bar.
• Ensure that all glasses are washed, dried and stocked properly.
• To have a complete knowledge of mixed drinks, cocktails and wines.
• Conduct the correct procedures to secure the bar.
• Report all equipment failures or malfunctions to the Beverage Manager as soon as possible.
• Monitor and understand production controls.
• To follow the correct method for handling returned drinks.
• To undertake the full details of a Food and Beverage Attendant when required.
• Ensure the use of proper storage temperatures, and the correct manner of storing items.
• Ensure efficient provision of service to guests by replacing immediately and without charge, any unsatisfactory beverage items.
• Contribute to the overall operational efficiency by participating in multi-skilling training.
• Help to ensure high standards by looking continuously for ways to improve the quality, service and income of the hotel and by putting into practice all training received, especially relating to job knowledge and skills, and Plaza Athenee, a Royal Meridien culture.
• Uphold the Starwood Cares culture by demonstrating the Star Service Standards at all times to guests and fellow associates.
• Personally ensure compliance with all relevant Workplace Health & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety rules, and related Plaza Athenee, a Royal Meridien and Starwood Policies.
• Anticipate guest’s needs through observation and offer prompt, efficient service either personally or through effective communication with other associates.
• Align working practices and conduct with Plaza Athenee, a Royal Meridien; consistently strive to meet and exceed the expectations of both internal and external guests.
• Undertake additional duties as requested by your Supervisor or Hotel Management.
