Where the roof pitch exceeds 35o, flat tiles provide a weather proof barrier. In lower pitches, a secondary barrier is required as some water penetration is expected. Whilst durable supports for the tiles are generally considered necessary in all cases, it is essential that these are provided where a roof has a pitch of less than 35o. The pitch of the lower roof areas is 20o. Battens used should be a durable timber species or a galvanised, galvanised steel sections or zincalume coated cold rolled sections.
