The Multi-Family Therapy-BN (MFT-BN) program has been developed by the
Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Service, South London and Maudsley
NHS Foundation Trust in London, specifically to build on the evidence
provided by the two previous RCTs and address the four particular issues outlined
above. MFT-BN has been developed to treat adolescents aged 13–18.
MFT-BN incorporates systemic therapy in a multi-family context (Simic &
Eisler, 2015) which has been demonstrated to have better outcomes in
anorexia than single family therapy (Eisler, 2013), together with elements of
CBT and DBT. However, there are significant modifications made to address
each of the four outlined issues.
