Dear parents,
We are aware of many rumours circulating about an incident that took place in the NK playground yesterday afternoon. I would like to clarify the situation with all of you. A class was using the playground for a free play period accompanied by two teachers as per normal. One of the students was swinging on the monkey bars and slipped and fell to the floor injuring himself. This was a simple accident. Both teachers were in close attendance but unable to catch him, much to their horror. The child in question was playing normally and was not pushed, no other child was involved in the incident. The child who was hurt, received first aid from the school nurse and parents were immediately contacted by me. I am not at liberty to tell you anything more as it is private information relevant to the family of the child only.
I can assure you we do not take these situations lightly. An incident report (as per policy) was completed as normal routine. We have also met at NK management level to discuss this, and senior management are aware and looking at a long term solution. In the short term a number of the large green padded mats are being placed under the monkey bars. Really small children will not be allowed to play and we would encourage parents who use the playground after 3pm to be especially vigilant. If you have any other concerns please feel free to contact me via email.
