The MAKS is an instrument designed to assess stigmarelated mental health knowledge (Evans-Lacko et al., 2010). It was developed to assess the effectiveness of antistigma interventions. The instrument is composed of six stigma-related mental health knowledge areas: employment, recognition, help seeking, support, treatment, and recovery. MAKS items are scored on an ordinal scale with five indicating strong agreement, one indicating strong disagreement, and 3 as the neutral ‘‘do not know’’ response. Internal consistency of the scale as reported by EvansLacko et al. (2010) is moderate (alpha ¼ 0.65).
