Glucose yields obtained by the hydrolysis of the straw treated with 1 M Na2CO3at 100◦C for 1, 3, and 7 h were 91.7, 100, and92.5%, respectively, while these values for 0.5 M Na2CO3 at the same temperature and time were found to be 87.9, 100, and 93.6%,respectively. However, glucose yield was only 35% for untreated straw (Fig. 3).
