Messi
Not sure he's watched much of United lately...
"If you look at the technical ability of a player like Wayne Rooney, he is as good as any player in Europe.
"Rooney has exceptional quality. Not just great technical ability, but also works very hard for his team. I'm sure Manchester United will never want to let him leave, though."

Kommen sie bitte: Sky Sports Germany are adamant Firmino is off, but it almost certainly won't be to United...

Very valid point. The complaints also tend to come from keyboard warriors with pseudonyms and sanctimonious avatars...

Firmino
Led to believe there's nothing in the reports, as suspected.
Moving on...

Remember this bloke: He's injured and left-footed, so should be ideal for United, but he won't be coming this summer...

De Gea
The Sun claim he is prepared to submit a transfer request to force through a move to Real Madrid.
From our end, there's been no indication of that, although here's a piece on why he won't be that fondly remembered after he's gone.

Cabaye
"If there is an opportunity to go back to England, I hope everyone will be smart enough to do things well. But there could be other destinations."
Back in January 2014, he'd have been a logical buy for United. That PSG move was never going to be a long-term one with their midfield.

Dare anyone suggest he will be 'like a new signing'?

Firmino
It's worth noting that almost every report regarding the 23-year-old has come from Germany and/or Brazil. There has literally been no suggestion from United they are in for him, although occasionally some players fly under the radar and suddenly turn up in a United shirt (Larsson).
The Brazilian scored an impressive 16 goals in 33 games for Hoffenheim but (and this is without having seen him play) he excelled for the eighth-best side in the Bundesliga and United do not have a good track record with Brazilians.
Louis van Gaal had a few at Barcelona, including Giovanni, who described his coach as the 'Hitler of the Brazilian players', and Van Gaal also fell out with Rivaldo (who did also inspire Barca to back-to-back La Liga titles).

Sister paper the Mirror are reporting Internazionale have offered £8m for Hernandez.
Given United paid just £6m for him and he is about to enter the last year of his contract, that's a decent fee.

Ben Amos appears to have found a club ahead of his imminent release by United.
He will return to Bolton permanently, having joined The Trotters on loan last season. And with Adam Bogdan set to join Liverpool, Amos could become their No.1

Good morning and welcome to the Manchester United live blog for Friday June 12.
The World Cup started exactly a year ago today, and while we can't match that for entertainment there is plenty of transfer speculation to get through between now and the start of September.
We'll do our best to separate the wheat from the chaff but first up is this morning's transfer gossip round-up.
