The total DM intake per kg metabolic body size per day was unaffected (P=0.303) with
increasing LLLT supplementation. The DM obtained through LLLT in treatment III (where
maximum level of LLLT was supplemented) was 224 g/d. The proportion of DM intake
through LLLT at the highest level of supplementation was 0.34. Digestion of total diet
DM decreased (P=0.002) linearly with LLLT supplementation. The relative magnitude of
decrease from the unsupplemented treatment to highest level of supplementation was 12%.
The roughage-concentrate ratio increased (P=0.014) linearly with the values 0.75:1, 0.80:1
and 1.39:1 in treatments I, II and III, respectively.
3.3. Energy balance
The gross energy (GE) and digestible energy (DE) intakes per kg metabolic body size per
day were unaffected by treatment (Table 3). The digestibility of GE was also not affected
during trial with increasing LLLT supplementation.
The urinary energy (UE) loss increased (linear, P≤0.001) with increasing LLLT supplementation.
The relative magnitude of increase from unsupplemented treatment to the
highest level of supplementation was 262%.
