The primary tea regions in Vietnam are near the "base" of the Annamite Plateau in upper South Vietnam. These regions have been largely undisturbed during the political upheavals of the last century, and the large tea plants that thrive in perfect environments there have roots that are hundreds of years old. Today, the old tea houses still stand, although modernized, serving as a popular retreat for businesspeople and other groups.
In the last year, supplies of Vietnamese teas have been co-opted by Chinese tea producers who have come to realize that Vietnamese teas are among the purist and best-tasting in the world, and yet are produced very economically. Just as Brazil has been quietly buying up Vietnamese coffee for resale, so has China been buying up tea. Vietnamese teas are not produced in high volume. Our company has worked hard to locate remaining sources of the best Vietnamese tea and some unique new offerings that will be posted on our site soon.
