A rubber tapper was shot dead as he was riding a motorcycle on his way to his rubber plantation in Narathiwat’s Muang district to tap rubber latex Tuesday morning.
The victim, Mr Mayaki Mahama, was shot three times by two assailants who emerged from the bushes as he arrived at the crime scene which is not far away from his house in Village 8, Tambon Bang Bo.
Mr Mayaki died at the scene and the assailants escaped without touching his motorcycle.
Police said that the motive or motives of the killing were still under investigation. However, they said they did not rule out the suspicion that the murder might be the work of militants.
