A large share of the Thailand economy is export-oriented, therefore some of containers have to be brought as empty from aboard and do M&R before laden export. Leamchabang port is Thailand's largest deep-sea port and significant manufacturing hubs are nearby area. In 2009, MCCT depot was established which is located about 15 km away from Leamchabang port.. The initial purpose of MCCT was repairing and cleaning of MOL's containers with storage capacity of 6,000 TEUs.
