The freeze-dried powder from the Moonlight variety was
used to compare the extraction of flavonoids using five
solvents: methanol, ethanol, n-butanol, acetone and water.
Moonlight powder samples (1 g) were added to 100 mL
of each solvent and incubated for 1 h at different temperatures
using a shaking water bath (Ratek Instruments,
Boronia, Vic, Australia). The extraction temperatures
were set below the boiling point of each solvent: 80˚C
for ethanol, n-butanol and water and 50˚C and 60˚C for
acetone and methanol, respectively.
