implementation was done with a total of 293 students studying in the 8th grade in seven different primary
schools located in Buca, Izmir. Data obtained as a result of the preliminary implementation were analyzed via TAP (Test Analysis Program) and the KR-20 measurement reliability coefficient was found to be
0.93. In order to examine the distribution of the data obtained in the study, and test whether they show a normal distribution, the Shapiro-Wilks normality test was applied to pre- and post-test results that the experimental and control group obtained from the ”Solar System and Beyond: Space Puzzle” unit academic achievement test. The skewness and kurtosis values were considered in testing the normality assumption. It was concluded that pre-test and post-test scores of the academic achievement test were not extremely skewed, and the data proved the normality assumption. Therefore, parametric tests were used in data analysis. In order to determine the significance of the difference between the experimental and control groups, p value was checked to see if it was smaller than 0.05. In this study, the effect size was calculated for all cases when the difference between experimental and control groups was significant.
